Palermo

Today we spent the day in Palermo. Our guide has spent a lot of time talking about the mafia and how terrible it was/is, but I can't help thinking that in another life I might have worked for them. Today we spent a lot of time talking about the Norman influences that are all around this place. We saw several old churches with really great mosaics and then spent a good bit of time looking at some of the churches and piazza's. After lunch, Sue and I walked on our own down to the sea, taking in several interesting sights. We did a good job navigating the old part of the city without getting lost. Tonight it's dinner on our own in a nice piazza near our hotel. I'll post pictures as soon as I get to a place that doesn't have password protected wifi.
